I often feel like Sherk when it comes to parenting. You know, a bit clumsy, lost in the woods, going through a swamp, and feeling like screaming "DONKEYYYYY" from time to time. Yet you find yourself constantly fighting for your loved ones, because you simply love them dearly and they are your everything! They are your life!
My dad always said "kids don't come with a manual" and boy... he was right. I have 3 children (ages 18, 13 and 11) and none of them are the same. Yeah sure they have some similarities, but hey they are brothers and sisters after all. However, for the most part, they are different and have their own ways. They have their own likes, dislikes, and way of thinking.
When I grew up, it was just me, myself and I. Yep, I didn't grow up with any brothers or sisters. Not that I ever felt lonely, because I was very close to my cousins and we saw each other all the time. But what often amazes me is when I see my 3 kids fighting over stupid things or when they are being super sweet to each other. The care and love they have for each other is tremendous and I pray that this will never change.
My children are getting older now and are less dependent on us. Nevertheless, my husband and I always tell them that they should be able to depend on each other and that as brothers and sisters they always have to be there for each other. Also, our conversations are starting to have more meaning and I am learning to respect their different views and choices in life.
Having 3 children is sometimes challenging and yes it makes me feel like Shrek at times. But it is a Journey that we go through together as a family, and I would not have it any other way.
This is so true! I feel like Shrek all the time. I have 3 children (8, 7, and 5), they always makes me confuse. Cause in one day, they can fight about "silly things" in SO many times -__-.
Thanks for your sharing Mama Margie, this is a reminder for me too! :)
Hi mba Cindy,
Thank you so much for your comment. Im also often confused, but at the same time often overwhelmed by joy and feeling blessed.
